Liner

The liner is a composite image of several elements. I used a non-Latin based font created by the Summer Institute of Linguistics for the Colorado University Lakhóta Project to display the Lakhóta writing system developed by Taylor and Rood.

Using a keyboard mapping program, I mapped the font onto the standard keyboard in order to produce the text of the word "Lakhótuyapi" using the diacritical marks of the Taylor and Rood Lakhóta writing system.

The word "Lakhótuyapi" was then super-imposed over two full-color images: the image of the buffalo skull was cropped, resized and rendered into a transparent layer over the medicine wheel.

The composite image was then exported from Adobe PhotoShop into Adobe PageMaker where I edited it into a publication format for hardcopy printing.
